Classroom etiquette and attire for Tai Chi classes

When possible, be on time for class and wait outside the classroom until your class is ready to assemble. Every effort will be made to keep the classes running on time. If you are late, which is something that is bound to happen from time to time, please come in and join the class as quietly as possible.

Class will begin and end with the closed palm, two hand salute that is traditionally used by Tai Chi Chuan players to formally acknowledge the beginning or end of study. In Tai Chi Montclair classes, the meaning of the salute is to honor the long history and merit of Tai Chi.

Please bring shoes to wear that have not been worn outside. Flat rubber soles are recommended, like Keds or Converse sneakers. Bare feet or socks are not recommended. Loose- fitting comfortable clothing is best, like T-shirts, polos, and sweat pants; which allow freedom of motion.
